After a bowl is thrown I paint a pattern using liquid latex resist, then apply color over the whole surface. The bowls are often dipped in glaze first, then painted with latex within the next few hours. Latex must be completely dry, then the bowl gets dipped into another glaze. The surface dries within ten minutes, and the latex is removed by hand. Missing to remove part of the latex will leave the surface discolored and bumpy so working with continuous tessellations helps avoid those mishaps.
